Tschss Deutchland (Goodbye Germany)
Today was a great day. We had an awesome service this morning. It is very sad for us to have to leave after getting to know everyone. It’s so crazy how close we got to our readers and with the members of the church. Before I even thought about going on a LST project I was told that if I went on a 3-week project that the time would fly by and they were right. It feels like we just got here...
"Gosh! There are so many old buildings here!"
Berlin! The city of old buildings! Berlin has so much history surrounding it that I am so glad that we were able to go and see it all in one day! Olivia, our fabulous tour guide, took us to so many places including: Checkpoint Charlie, East Side Gallery (reconstruction of the Berlin wall), and many highly impressive cathedrals! Thank God that He allowed Olivia to be with us today. We would...
Ending with a BANG!
Ladies and Gentlemen. Prepare yourself for a long reading today, because it was full of AWESOME! First, we got up super early to go with Susan to the last 5th grade English class. Then, we headed back to the church to meet Mo’s reader, Andreas, for a bird’s eye view of Hildesheim! He took us up in the air on his plane. Mo even got to drive for a few minutes….scary…I know...
I serve an awesome God!
Today started off rough for me but things turned around after I prayed. I think it’s amazing how quickly I forget how effective prayer can be. Gods word tells us to cast all our cares on God because he cares, but often times I find myself trying to fix the problem myself. But overall we all had good reading sessions today. It’s so cool how fast we have gotten close to our readers. I...

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo. Today was long and so if this blog does not completely make sense I am very sorry. I had quite a few readers today. I talked with Feri, Woo-Jeong, Jasmin, and Renate. I have heard multiple times that everyone is sad that we are leaving. And honestly, we are very sad about leaving as well. For the rest of our time here we are trying to soak everything up...
Party time!!!!
Well today was another full day here in Hildesheim! We started off with another trip to 5th grade classes. We answered their questions and played fun American games with them. Red Rover was a HIT! Later, we talked with readers and had some great conversations. My session with Ann-Kristin went VERY well. She began to open up more and become more comfortable talking to me in English. She still...

I love Germany!!!!!!
Today was a busy day for each of us. We all had readers regularly scheduled throughout the day. I had a new reader this morning named Mark. He is a nice young man that is very knowledgeable. In every lesson that we did he had plenty of questions about the lesson as well as insight on different things in the lessons. One of the things that jumped out at me during my lesson with Mark was something...

Today was a jammed packed day! It was amazing! It started with a wonderful church sermon by Randy a friend of Gemeinde Christi! He began with “I have a dream…” He talked about how each of us in imperfect and when one of us messes up in the church, it gives us an opportunity to practice grace towards one another. He had some inspiring ideas that really made me examine my own...

Hannover anyone?
Today was a day off for these three hard working ladies. We decided to hop on the train and head to Hannover (after sleeping in of course ;) where we met Julia, a friend of Alicia. She took us shopping and gave us as much of a tour as she could as the weather was dreary and rainy. We ventured to the RasHaus (courthouse) where we saw HUGE models of the city in the 1600s, 1939 (Pre WWII), 1945...
We're off to see the city......the wonderful city...
God is just so amazing! This morning I did the devotional and I used a scripture from romans (Romans 13:14). Our conversation ventured into the topic of people who go to church on Sunday and say they’re saved but live like they’re not saved Monday through Thursday. I had a new reader this morning named Andreas. He is very outgoing and friendly. In our lesson he too mentioned how...
The City of Roses!
Today was quite a busy day! We woke up this morning to get fresh bread from the local grocery store, Netto. Yum yum! I then went to talk with Mario at 10am. He is such a hilarious guy! Today we talked about German history and school systems. We spoke about the birth of Jesus and the importance of Mary and Joseph being in Bethlehem. He really loves talking about America and is extremely...

Busy Bees
Well, I for one am exhausted, but in a good way!!! We started this morning off bright and early by visiting another school in Hildesheim. We met and spoke with two 9th year, two 5 year, and one 6 year class. Some of the 5 year classes even had papers with their questions on them! SO CUTE! It was interesting to see the different teaching patterns of English at different schools.
I also had a...
Phew...party 1 Over!!!!!!!!
Success…Success!!!! I don’t mean to tute our own horns but TUTE….TUTE! Lol. Our party was legit. It flowed so smoothly and people actually liked the food. For the food we had red beans and rice, garlic bread, m&m cookies, and sweet tea. We even brought the ‘slap yo mama’ seasoning, which some people tried and liked. We played in a boat, over & under, hot...

Late Responce
I am sorry for not posting yesterday! We got back from downtown pretty late and I did not have very much time before sleeping. We started off yesterday at a school called a gymnasium or the highest level of high school here. We visited some 11th and 12th grade English classes to let them know that we were offering free English lessons. Some of the students sounded really interested, and...

Gemeinde Christi
This morning began with a church service with the church, Gemeinde Christi. It was a very interesting experience since it was mainly done in German. However, a few songs were sung in English and the missionary translated for us when we needed to move or what was going on. During the sermon, we had a translator as well which was REALLY helpful. The sermon was moving, speaking about the different...
"Relax, don't do it, when you wanna come to it..."
Well today was our day off and we went to a village named Bergen-Beslin to go to a concentration camp where Anne Frank died. I would say it was cool but there’s nothing cool about what happpened to the Jews. More like informative. I enjoyed learning more about it. For dinner we ate with the Bratchers’. We had Raclette. It was so delicious. It consisted of things like meat (name...
Day 4 - School Children and Parties
Today we went to a local school and worked with an English teacher there. We went to two different sixth grader classes and a ninth grade class. They asked us all types of questions, including: American movies and music, school system, sports, and our hobbies. We also got to talk with them about their culture including: food, school, and family. We taught them simple American games like Simon...
Day 3- Hallo from Hildesheim
Hey everybody! Germany is treating Alicia, Mo, and me very nicely. We are starting to get used to the many different customs, such as separating trash into 4 containters (compost, paper, plastic, and everything else) and crossing the road ONLY when the green man says walk. This morning we stopped by the grocery store close to the church building to grab some fresh brotchen (breakfast rolls) for...
Day 1- Getting over jetlag
So although we got plenty of sleep last night, about midway through the day we are falling asleep. We have been reading with our readers and getting to know them. I find that although I’m really tired, it’s not that hard to be courteous. Some of their traditions, like taking off your shoes when you enter the house or not smiling at people on the street, is a little hard to rememeber...
WE'RE FINALLY IN GERMANY!!!!
Mo, Sam and I have finally gotten to Germany and we are so excited!! We have an informational meeting tonight at 7pm (noon Texas time). We are happy to get to meet our church group and to meet some of our future readers! Pray for endurance and minimal jetlag as we rely on God’s strength and power to change hearts. This town is so different from the U.S., but it is wonderful to get...
